Air Ionizer for Healthy Living

An air ionizer, which is also known as a negative ion generator, is an appliance that purifies the air.  It uses high voltage in order to ionize the air molecules, that is, it gives them an electrical charge.  As the name implies, in lieu of using filters and fans, this device is able to create ions that remove microscopic particles from the very air that you breathe.  You will find that rooms are healthier for those who suffer from allergies, respiratory ailments, asthma, and impaired immunity.  This is true because there are not as many allergens that circulate in the lungs.

The air ionizer relies on different chemical properties of particles.  What is an ion?  It is a particle that has either a negative or positive charge.  This device, whether it is a tabletop unit or a standalone unit, is able to create negative ions by using electricity.  When the machine is running, ions flood the room seeking out such positively charge particles as bacteria, smoke, dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander and a variety of other allergens.  Once the ions and the unhealthy particles bond, the particles get very heavy.  These harmful airborne particles will become larger pieces of dirt on your carpet or flooring where they are able to be vacuumed up or cleaned by other normal means.

Most of the particles that are close to the ground have a positive charge.  Natural phenomenon such as waterfalls and lightning will generate not only negative ions but ozone as well.  Do you ever get that “fresh” smell during an electrical storm or while rafting on the white rapids?  You are actually “smelling” the ozone and the negative ions.  Ozone is related to oxygen and is a naturally occurring gas.  An air ionizer wants to compensate for the disequilibrium in the atmosphere or the air in your house.
Outdoor pollutants have gained a lot of attention.  We certainly don’t want factory emissions or car exhaust to cause health hazards.  However, indoor air pollution is still a nagging problem.  Air conditioner and heating ducts are perfect breeding grounds for dust and mold.  These bacteria thrive on higher humidity.  An air ionizer will address these office and home sources of pollution.  Ozone is a gas that makes it much harder for germs to grow.  It deodorizes as well.

An air ionizer is able to run silently as well as conserve power.  This is not the case with fan-driven air purifiers.  Another advantage that an air ionizer has is that no parts have to be physically replaced as there are no filters. Even though an air ionizer may not have a motorized fan, a faint breeze is created during the ionization process, which will help distribute ions throughout a room.  Some air ionizers are outfitted with prongs or screens to trap the dust particles as they fall to the floor.

In an air ionizer, both the negative ions as well as hydroxyls help to freshen and purify the air you breathe safely, optimally and silently.  Scientific studies that have been carried on about negative ions have shown that some people will become tired, have difficulty concentrating, moody and depressed when the negative ion counts become too low or when the positive ion counts become too high.  An example of this would be sitting in front of the TV or a computer monitor.

Now you have been introduced to what an air ionizer is all about.  Would you like to buy one and feel the difference in the air in your home or business?
